Wordsmithery October 2025

October’s Wordsmithery is set to be a very special evening as we celebrate the launch of Alison Schultz’s brand-new poetry collection, The Hushed Passing of the Blue Hour. Alison, our wonderful curator and host, will be sharing readings from her book, accompanied by the beautifully atmospheric guitar of John Chatterton. A poet and musician from the Wirral, Alison is a familiar face on the poetry scene, with three collections to her name, numerous anthology contributions, and a central role in both Wordsmithery and the Wirral Poetry Festival.

Alongside Alison’s book launch, we’re excited to welcome guest musician Paul Alessandro Nazole. A talented Liverpool-based artist, Paul will bring his own unique sound to the evening, adding to the vibrant mix of creativity and performance. And, as always, Wordsmithery wouldn’t be complete without our open mic – offering poets, storytellers, and performers the chance to share their words in a warm and supportive space.

Expect a night where poetry, live music, and community come together. With the added bonus of the Women’s Work Art Exhibition also on display at Start Yard, this is an evening not to be missed.
