You may not know it, but our host Alison Schultz is the curator and creator of Wordsmithery. As a musician and poet, her broad contacts continue to bring us a smorgasbord of talent.

Tonight, however, we get to hear her poems. She has two volumes on Amazon – Eyes on the Bright Horizon and Observatory – and is currently working on the third with Yaffle Press, which we will launch later this year. She performs widely, on occasion with guitarist John Chatterton, and is one of the team who run the Wirral Poetry Festival annually in Port Sunlight. Her performance has been called mesmerising and powerful.

John Jenkins is carving out a path for himself as a renowned singer songwriter on the UK Folk , country and Americana scene. Jenkins is a master of melody, understated lyrics and deft chord changes, while his songs have been hailed wherever music is written about. He is an established live touring act, both solo and collaboratively and has supported Chris Difford (Squeeze), Jarrod Dickenson, Robert Vincent (AMAUK Artist of the Year), and Steve Tilson in recent years. Jenkins latest body of work, the 2023 album ‘Tuebrook’ has gained the admiration from the likes of Folk Radio UK, Americana UK, Fatea and many more magazines.
