Pride Exhibition Launch Night

471RoutesCIC returns to Scandals Adult Store in Birkenhead with a brand new exhibition for Pride. This open, curated show invited submissions that celebrate a sex positive pride depicting queer, and kink experiences. The exhibition will be a space where artists can explore queer and kink identities without censorship. 

On the 20th June we will celebrate the launch of the exhibition with an extremely c***y cabaret and club night from local performers and DJs!!!

Exhibition Dates

The artwork will remain on display at Scandals until 25th July, so if you can’t make the launch night, you can still experience the full exhibition.
Scandals is open 10am–6pm (closed Sundays).

Pete Carr:
Pete Carr (they/them) is a New Brighton-based photographer and writer. By day they document
architecture, people, and arts events across the Liverpool City Region. Their work has been
shortlisted for the Portrait of Britain photography prize, to winning the Juror’s Choice in the Open
Eye Gallery’s LCR Photo Awards. Commercially, with over 15 years of experience, they have
worked with brands such as National Museums Liverpool, Culture Liverpool, Grazia, Liverpool
Biennial, RIBA, Tate, Cunard and Homotopia.
The rest of the time they write about being neuroqueer and disabled, identity and accessibility.
From being a D/deaf, autistic person with an over-active ADHD brain, to learning how to be
comfortable running into the sea with nothing on. Their writing has been featured by National
Museums Liverpool, Disability Arts Online and H&E Naturist Magazine.

Breena Sinclair
Breena Sinclair, is a Wirral based artist who specialises in illustration and animation. Her work is kitsch and sleazy, playing with themes of sexuality, pop-culture and the human experience; often with a satirical edge. She aims to tell stories about imperfect, layered characters as she believes that the way we relate to media and use it to better understand each other is a highly important and special gift.

Ekaterina is a UK-based visual artist and architect whose work draws on mythology, folklore, and the human body. Working primarily in fine liner and acrylic marker, she creates bold, narrative-driven pieces that explore themes of identity, transformation, and the uncanny. Her work has been exhibited across the UK, including in Leeds, Liverpool, Birkenhead, and Doncaster.

Frankie Reed
Frankie Reed is a Liverpool-based multidisciplinary artist, poet, and facilitator. Their work explores the body, folklore, mythology, queer identity, and the histories that shape how we understand ourselves. Drawing inspiration from anatomy, the history of science, and material culture, they create work that sits between the personal, the historical, and the uncanny. Alongside their creative practice, Frankie runs Flesh and Parchment, an independent zine and poetry platform that champions experimental writing and emerging voices, and Rags and Rot, a project centred on repaired, reimagined, and sustainable clothing. Through visual art, writing, and community-led projects, they are interested in storytelling as a tool for connection, transformation, and collective care.

Geoff Owens
Geoff Owens is a Merseyside-based artist born on the Wirral, England. He has always been drawn to figurative drawing and the use of colour and structure also finding magic in line work, producing artwork in a number of mediums such as; watercolour,
acrylics and ink alongside commissions of portraits and illustrations.
Throughout his life, he has always taken inspiration from daily life collecting mental images/scenes and reproducing them in his
artwork. He has always fascinated by how the world is represented through the eyes of others and has attempted to produce work that shows depth along with emotion.
Geoff’s work has been exhibited internationally in a number of galleries across the United Kingdom and in the United States of America.
Other work has been published in both volumes of best of European erotic art. He has also produced illustrations for books and album cover designs for bands and solo performers.

Gray Beck (Graculus Draws)
Gray is a queer, neurodivergent, disabled artist. Originally from Cheshire, they currently reside in the Highlands with their Scottish family, thankfully far from the clutches of the English NHS. Gray became interested in combining print making techniques and digital art as an accessible way to continue creating within their fluctuating disability.

Their work examines the honesty of perversity, revelling in the glory of gender, kink and queerness as it truly is. In a world where simply living in a non-conventionally gendered body is radical, Gray’s practice explores how simply depicting those bodies as they are can be a celebratory act of representation.

Kink has also long been a way to play with power, gender and dynamics beyond binary sex. But like queerness, kink is often vilified and branded “perverse”. Gray’s work rails against that discrimination, viewing kink as an unconventional display of love and affection that playfully pushes the boundaries of the accepted.

Queerness, disability and kink are just a part of who Gray is. Their work may be provocative, but asks the viewer why queer art is considered shocking in the first place. 

Until queer art is no longer censored in the increasingly polarised capitalist world, they’ll continue celebrating it in private for the eyes of accepting perverts.

Lucy-Grace Perry
Lucy-Grace is a figurative artist dedicated to the celebration of the natural form. In her work, the body is treated as a site of both power and vulnerability, using dramatic light and vibrant colour to highlight the sensuality of “real” bodies. By focusing on the curves and natural textures, she challenges traditional beauty standards and encourages a body positive gaze that finds the erotic in the authentic.

Sam James Alcock (Fagg_Art)
Samuel James Alcock [@fagg_art] is a self-proclaimed sexual deviant and transgender menace, fine artist and printmaker based in Northwest England. His artwork captures a deep sense of desire, desire of the man he so desperately wants to be and the unsavoury sex he wants to have. Samuel has a deep fascination towards the erotic, he is autistic and describes that sleazy queer sex and BDSM is his hyper-fixation. His work serves to distract from reality whilst also heightening it. A juxtaposition that that follows him through life, being so infatuated by a subject but feeling as though he is alienated from the community or society in general due to being neurodivergent or being transexual. The work primarily manifests as high detailed monochromatic ballpoint pen drawings, creating depth and shading through layering crosshatching almost obsessive-compulsively which speaks to how he feels about the subject of his work.
