Wendy, originally from Manchester, has always been drawn to creativity. From sketching anatomy in school to making clothes, upcycling furniture and experimenting with home decor, artistic expression has been a constant thread throughout her life. Qualified in social work, Wendy worked for most of her career in the voluntary sector with people who experienced domestic abuse, women involved in the criminal justice system and young people with complex needs. She empowered others through an empathic approach, using creativity in group work to encourage people to find and enjoy their artistic expression. Wendy has two children, who both have a love of art, and two dogs, an Irish Red Setter called Ruby & an Irish Doodle called Peggy. Her happy place when she’s not creating is walking with the dogs on the beach or in Wirral’s beautiful countryside.
“After stepping back from supporting others to focus on my own well-being and care for my husband, I finally had time to reconnect with the things I love. Creativity naturally called me back, and after joining a local informal art group, I rediscovered my passion for art – deeply inspired by the vibrancy of Frida Kahlo. I get completely lost in my art work, it’s so absorbing and healing, several hours can pass before I realise I’m thirsty and the last cuppa I made had gone cold again!
Three years ago, I moved to the Wirral and found my tribe. Living close to the River Mersey, surrounded by quirky shops and warm, welcoming people, I’ve discovered my natural environment and my forever home.”
