Paul is a retired RE and History teacher from Greasby, Wirral. He enjoys being creative in many ways. As well as his painting, Paul writes and performs his own poetry and songs.
“Painting is a way of expressing thoughts, emotions and feelings in the moment. Sometimes I have an idea or a theme, other times, I literally just squeeze paint on to the paper and see what happens! I very seldom use a brush.
Working in acrylic and watercolour paint, with painting pens, pencils, marker pens and anything else I can find, I finger paint, flick paint at the paper, use a knife and fork (not those which I eat with!) and have even used the cardboard off Bran Flakes packets (empty of Bran Flakes!), to scrape paint around!
I find it hard to classify my painting under any style. I just have fun. Maybe, “Funism” would be my classification ! My favourite artists are, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and Rene Magritte”
