Albina Kumirova is a poet and artist, born in 1960 on the Volga River. She lived on the island of Sakhalin in the Russian Far East.
In her youth, she studied the technology of the sewing industry in Khabarovsk and French in Moscow, where she became one of the first street artists. Since moving to the UK in 1988 – first settling in Leicester before relocating to Wirral in 2002 – Albina has held more than 20 solo exhibitions locally and participated in numerous group exhibitions.
She completed her Fine Arts studies at Wirral Metropolitan College with distinction in 2010 and earned a first-class degree from Liverpool John Moores University’s Fine Art department in 2014. There, she developed video editing skills, creating numerous short films for YouTube. Her editing expertise also enabled her to produce 140 episodes of the radio programme Inspiration, featuring her own poetry, from February 2019 to May 2024.
Albina is a prolific and versatile artist, working across various media, including acrylic, oil, ink, and watercolour. Her subjects range from portraits, dancers, and nudes to still life, flowers, animals, and landscapes, occasionally exploring political and religious themes. While she tends towards a traditional artistic interpretation, she is not confined by it. Her paintings are characterised by movement and vibrant colours.
