471 Routes C.I.C. is already getting people talking. A startup Community Interest Company, 471 Routes C.I.C .is gaining momentum and creating opportunities for venues and artists as well as a space for our growing team to make a difference.
We’re building a vibrant inclusive community that brings together artists and audiences to breathe new life into venues. We have an inclusive learning culture with focused teams and structures that enable ideas to turn into action and diverse teams to work together effectively based on trust, transparency & respect.
We tell our story here for those who want to support or join our journey of Music, Arts, Regeneration and Culture and help make a “MARC” that builds something new around Birkenhead’s historic roots. We’re starting to create waves across the left bank of the Mersey strengthening two-way cultural connections with Liverpool and revitalising the heart of Birkenhead and beyond.
471 Routes C.I.C. is a group of individuals with the same vision for this not-for-profit. We are setting out to change the music and creative arts scene within Merseyside. We will be offering education and mentorship for the creative industry. By fostering pathways to creative careers, and ensuring inclusivity across various roles, from music tuition and production to lights, sound engineering, and events management.
We’re filling the gap between school and a career. Giving them the power and experience to be paid fairly in a respected career.
We want to make workshops and tutoring accessible in a variety of roles but also give young people opportunities to perform and put these skills to good use in a practical setting.
We are called 471 Routes C.I.C. because of early experiences of the events scene, everyones education and social lives were connected together by the 471 bus route. This route connects Wirral and Liverpool making a range of venues accessible. The 471 bus became his metaphor for bringing the community together around music, art and culture as well as enabling his own personal development and exposure to a diverse range of genres, ideas and people.
It is what 471 is about; connection, diversity, accessibility and inclusion while being grounded in equality of reward and opportunity.
Routes came from the routes that these buses travel and the routes our creatives and artists will go on through growth and development.
471 gave an opportunity for my autistic daughter to exhibit her artwork to a much wider local audience than we could have managed otherwise. It’s been a special experience working with the 471 team whose dedication to linking the arts to both young and old is to be congratulated.
I would like to say that currently it’s been an absolute pleasure to be involved in a team around 471 Routes C.I.C. The 471 team are working hard to make things happen with great energy.
I have thoroughly enjoyed showcasing my art with 471 Routes CIC over the last year – the unique experience celebrating Wirral art, live music and cultural events.

A great, nurturing organisation putting the performers at the heart of all the work they do. They are so clearly defined by the way they prioritise artists and care about the quality of the creative environment and they’re just genuinely good people.
Working for 471 Routes C.I.C. is a pleasure and privilege. Working alongside people who have the same aim to promote the arts in the community. Giving those that may not have normally attempted to present their work the chance to show how talented they are.
